What's a typical Sunday service like?
We gather in our own Students theater for worship, teaching, communion, and prayer. Similar to our main services, Students has sermon series throughout the year that tap into areas that matter most to tweens and teens. Sermons are given by our teaching team and are often followed by an opportunity to respond to the Lord whether in communion, prayer, an activity or all of these combined. This is where students are welcomed and welcome others to worship together in Jesus' name.
What do you all do during Midweek?
Wednesday nights give students the chance to press in more deeply to friendships with each other and their lead team through Midweek's own sermon series, small group discussions, and breakouts based on gender and age for maximum understanding of the Word and each other. Midweek is where students feel especially seen and connected away from the larger gathering of Sundays.
Who leads in Students?
Our Family and Students Pastor, Candice Covak, is the ministry's primary lead and teacher. But Students has an amazing team of adult volunteers who have a heart for tweens and teens existing in a topsy-turvy world where following faith is challenging. They are all background-checked and serve as teachers, mentors, encouragers, small group leaders, and prayer partners to our amazing students.
What about big events?
What can my student expect? We're glad you're curious about more expansive opportunities in your student's faith journey! Each January, we take one weekend away for Winter Retreat where we escape from the everyday to press into that year's theme - and, of course, enjoy the beautiful Colorado mountains in winter! Then, each summer, we head out for a 5-day summer camp to join other churches nationwide for professional teaching and worship alongside service to the community.
Can my student connect beyond these big events and services?
Sure can! Throughout the year, Students Ministry offers "smaller bites" of ministry experiences that include two lock-ins, service days within the local community, Midweek days out (like ice blocking and Whirlyball), and fun summer gatherings to just hang out together at a local park or BBQ event.
