Welcome to The Grove!
Preschool - Elementary - Preteen
Middle School - High School - Foster/Adoption
For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!”
- Psalm 92: 13-15
The dream has been alive for several years now and we are very excited to have launched this ministry in December of 2009. We are still very much in the development stage and look forward to watching as God molds and shapes his desires for The Grove in our hearts.
This ministry will impact families with children, birth through graduation. We will provide spiritual formation classes that will focus on equipping and supporting families to lead their children spiritually from birth, where they will choose a life verse for their child, through high school, where they will be supported through letting go and allowing their child to become independent in their relationship with God.
We are also very excited to host events that encourage corporate family experiences that will give families opportunities to discuss what they experience together. We desire as a ministry to transform our children into spiritual champions that are confident of who they are in Christ and of his love for them. We want them to believe God’s word when it says they will flourish in the courts of God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!” Psalm 92:13-15.
We covet your prayers and support if this is something that also is a passion of your heart. There are many opportunities to impact the lives of children and students.

Camp Chrysalis - Preschool Ministry
Camp Chrysalis offers three rooms within it's nursery for infants, crawlers and walkers. Preschool programming begins with our 2 year-old class and continues up until 5 years of age. In these classes there is a creative Bible storytelling time, craft, game, snack, and worship! Camp Chrysalis has classes during the 9am and 11am services on Sunday mornings, during the Saturday night service, and on Wednesday nights, during our Fall, Winter and Spring semesters.
The Treehouse - Elementary School Ministry
We have developed a program that is specifically designed to meet the needs of kids in kindergarten through third grade. We know that kids learn best in an atmosphere this is interactive, fun, and safe. On Sunday mornings and Saturday nights, kids rotate through four stations: games, crafts, drama and missions. On Wednesday nights, kids can practice for our Family Ministry Christmas Production, experience God's Word in small discipleship groups, and learn the meaning of true worship through the creative arts.
Project 4:12 - Preteen Ministry
Project 412 is the 4th and 5th grade preteen ministry here at Vanguard. Each week, our 4th and 5th grade students come together at the Sunday morning services to engage God in active worship and study God's Word in a small group setting. We use a preteen curriculum that is relevant and engaging. We focus on growing in our relationship with God and each other and we end our class time each with with TAG time (Time Alone with God). Our kids are sent off with a weekly challenge to incorporate the Truth of what they have learned in class into their lives during the week.
We come together on Wednesday evenings (during our Fall, Winter, and Spring semesters) for more fun and connection. Our Wednesday evening semesters include preparation for the Family Ministry Christmas Production, small discussion groups, and worship through the creative arts. We also enjoy many activities together outside of church, including: pizza, movie and game nights, our yearly trip to Elitch's and summer camp. Each week, we strive to live up to our mission of assisting parents to love their children into REAL relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our theme verse for Project 412 is 1 Timothy 4:12. "Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young. But set an example for all the believers in life, in love, in faith, in speech, and in purity." We believe that God has a perfect plan for each of us and He desires to use us in the lives of other people, regardless of our age!
Jill McCoy serves as the Project 412 Director, alongside a committed group of amazing volunteer leaders. Jill has been on staff, leading the Project 412 Ministry since the Fall of 2007 and continues to be filled with a Godly passion for loving, serving, leading, and building relationship with the preteen kids of Vanguard Church. She is wholeheartedly committed to assisting parents on their journey as they seek to love their children into REAL relationship with Jesus Christ. Jill has a Bachelor's Degree in nursing, but feels she is currently called to invest in the spiritual health of the kids and families in Project 412. Jill has an amazing husband (Mike), who serves in the Student Ministry and has more energy than she does. Jill and Mike also have two precious daughters, Madison and Whitney. Along with her family, she enjoys the many outdoor activities the wonderful state of Colorado has to offer and she is one of the few people you will meet who is always happy when it snows!
Always Wanted - Adoption & Foster Care Ministry
Throughout the Bible, God clearly commands every Christian to care for orphans. For some, that command will result in adoption, but there are many ways that every Christian can become involved in caring for orphans. Always Wanted wants to partner with you as you live out the calling God has placed on your life to extend God's love and blessing to orphans.
What does Always Wanted do?
- leads Vanguard in praying and advocating for adoption and foster care
- makes adoption more affordable for Vanguard Team Players through Vanguard's Adoption Grant Program
- coordinates education, support and community meetings and events
- provides support for adoptive and foster care families at Vanguard through:
- a volunteer network serving in tangible ways
- the Always Wanted Sponsor Family Program: one family commits to support a new foster or adoptive family in tangible ways for one year, providing prayer, respite care, meals, etc. as needed and notifies the volunteer network of needs
- leads Vanguard in caring for children in the US foster care system and promotes adoption from foster care
- directs birth families to positive resources, support and adoption options
- maintains the Always Wanted website as a thourough guide to the best printed and online resources on adoption and foster care
- hosts Stories and Faces, a collection of stories about adoption and foster care at Vanguard
The Hive - Middle School Ministry
Often times, it is easy to feel alone in this life...especially when it comes to being in Middle School. We strive to be a reminder that we are not alone in the struggles and changes surrounding us every day. We are called to be in community with God and with others.
We exist to challenge each other in:
- who God is
- our relationship with Jesus Christ
- our relationship with each other
- our relationship with those around us
Each program in our ministry has a slightly different purpose and, to really get the whole effect, we encourage students to participate in all of them. Fun and laughter have a way of tearing down walls and our monthly special events are a great opportunity to enjoy time in community with other middle-schoolers. Wednesday nights help students connect with each other and with leaders, as we tackle some of life's toughest questions. On Sundays, the students are challenged through Bible teaching and dialogue.
Regeneration - High School Ministry
Life is a maze of twists and turns...a "choose-your-own-adventure" book, full of epic decisions.
We are a group of students and volunteers committed to asking the right questions, serving as missionaries in our different tribes, doing courageous things to live out our faith, and loving others into REAL relationship with Jesus Christ. We gather twice weekly: Wednesdays (during our Fall, Winter, and Spring semesters), from 6-7:30pm and Sundays, and from 11am-12:30pm, in our student warehouse, "The Dub," across the parking lot from our main building.
Our staff, Alan and Julie Briggs, serve as our High School Pastors, but our volunteer team does much of the ground work and relationship building. Alan has been at Vanguard since 2006 and met Julie here in the Vanguard community. Julie has been serving for almost three years. Our volunteer community is made up of people of all different ages, giftings, and personalities, but they all want to live like Jesus and love high school students.
If you would like more information about the High School Ministry or to learn how to connect with us, please email Alan Briggs.
