What IS a Life Group Deacon (LGD)?
Upon meeting the qualifications God provides in 1 Timothy 3 and undergoing a rigorous interview process, LGD's:
- Assume responsibility for approx. 10 Life Groups
- Implement the Core Support elements to their Life Groups (communication, operation, administration, assimilation, and core values)
- Direct contact for questions, concerns, assistance, and support involving Life Groups
- Commit to a 2-year term of service
- Serve under the covering of the Chair Deacons
- Function with the full authority of Vanguard

Craig and Candice Covak have been married 15 years and are devoted parents to Grace, Elijah, and Judsen.
"Having been part of the Vanguard family for 11 years, we have seen - both as givers and receivers - how vital care and community are in the lives of God's children. We believe in Vanguard's mission. We believe in its body of believers. And we are inspired by what God is doing in them most of all.
As Chair Deacons, we construct and foster the workings of the ministry and strive to mentor, train, guide, and support our team of Deacons in both vision and practice. We serve proudly alongside them - and you! - as God's plan for Vanguard unfolds.

Kevin and Jen Sonntag have been married for seven years and have attended Vanguard for over five years. They have one daughter - Evelyn - who is almost one. They love hiking, being outside, working in the garden, and traveling. Kevin is a family crisis counselor and Jen stays home to care for Evelyn. Originally from Wisconsin, Mike and Cathy Van de Casteele now consider Colorado home. They have been married 7 years and have a 2 year old named Hudson. Mike works at a group home in downtown Colorado Springs and Cathy works part time at First Presbyterian Church in their nursery. Mike is an avid runner, while Cathy enjoys reading and sewing. Mark and Stephanie Krug have been attending Vanguard since 2008. They married in 2005 and moved to Colorado Springs from Arizona a year later. They are the proud and loving parents of Jackson and Halle. Committed to the vision and mission of Vanguard, they have been leaders of their Life Group for the past two years and have experienced first-hand a deeper relationship with the Lord through community.
